How to Choose a Mold Remediation Contractor
The strongest signals of a competent remediation contractor are a written scope that identifies and prices fixing the water source, IICRC certification, containment and negative air included as standard, and a willingness to have the work verified by an independent third party. Reluctance on that last point is the clearest warning sign.
We are not a remediation company and have nothing to sell you here. This page exists because people arrive at mold removal searches with no way to judge a quote, and the industry contains both excellent operators and some of the worst actors in home services.
The correct sequence
Test first, independently
Establish what is present, how far it extends, and what is keeping it wet. This routinely changes a remediation scope by thousands of dollars.
Fix the water source
Any proposal that does not identify and price this is incomplete, whatever else it includes.
Remediate with containment
Containment and negative air pressure as standard, porous contaminated material removed rather than treated.
Verify with a third party
Clearance testing by someone who did not do the removal. A contractor grading their own work is not verification.
