Why test-only

In most of the mold industry, the company that tells you whether you have a problem is the same company that sells you the solution. Free inspections are common because the inspection is a sales call. We are not suggesting the people doing this are dishonest — we are pointing out that the incentive is structurally backwards, and that the only way to fix it is to remove it.

So we removed it. We will never quote you remediation work, because we do not do any. When we find nothing, we are paid exactly the same as when we find something. That is the entire product.

What that lets us do

• Perform genuinely independent post-remediation clearance testing on other contractors' work
• Write reports that hold up in insurance claims and landlord–tenant disputes, because we have no stake in the outcome
• Tell you honestly when you do not need us, which we do regularly
• Recommend remediation contractors without taking a fee for the referral

Why our findings are worth something

Illinois licenses nobody in this field, which means any company can print a business card and call itself a mold inspector. So rather than ask you to take anything on trust, here is what is true about how we work — all of it checkable.

• We are test-only. We do not perform remediation and we accept no referral fees. Our fee is identical whether we find a serious problem or nothing at all.
• Samples go to an independent accredited laboratory. We do not analyse our own samples, so the result does not depend on our opinion of it.
• Every air sample is compared against an outdoor control taken the same day. Without that comparison an indoor spore count cannot be interpreted, and a report that omits it is not telling you much.
• Prices are published. Every figure is on the pricing page before you call, and it does not change based on what we find.
• Reports arrive within 48 hours, in writing, with photographs and readings you can hand to an insurer, a landlord or a buyer's agent.
• We are locally owned and based in Edwardsville, covering 54 towns across nine Illinois counties.

Illinois licenses nobody in this field

There is no state licensing or certification programme for mold inspectors or remediation contractors in Illinois, and the Illinois Department of Public Health does not certify them. Anyone can print a business card. That is exactly why you should ask any company you consider three questions: what certifications do you actually hold, which accredited laboratory do you use, and do you also sell remediation.
